Graduates prior to 1974

  The first intake of students studying drama at Flinders University was in 1967.
It wasn't until 1974 that the "Drama Centre" was born and a specific course dedicated to training
performers was established. This page is dedicated to the very first group of drama graduates.
     

Robert Hewett
Robert Hewitt began his career in the theatre as an actor. An Honors graduate of Flinders University, he joined the Melbourne Theatre Company working extensively in theatre, film, television and radio. The Blonde, the Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead premiered in Sydney in February 2004 and toured Australia for 4 years. Further productions occurred in Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada's Stratford Festival for two consecutive sellout seasons, Vancouver Playhouse, Citadel Theatre Edmonton, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Cincinnati Playhouse, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Triad Stage, Milwaukee Repertory Theater and Merrimack Repertory amongst others. The Spanish language premiere ran for 8 months in Mexico City, and 2012 sees another Greek language production at Kappa Theatre, Athens. Other plays include the multi award winning Gulls, The Adman, Just …One Last Dance, Waking Eve, Goodbye Mrs. Blore and the cabaret Taught by Experts.
   

Greig Pickhaver
(HG Nelson)

  Greig Pickhaver has performed as HG Nelson since creating the character for ABC Radio's Triple J in 1985. HG Nelson and Roy Slaven presented the long running This Sporting Life on Triple J and the hugely successful Olympic broadcasts, The Dream which won a Logie Award for Most Popular Sports Program; The Ice Dream, nominated for Most Outstanding Comedy Program at the 2003 Logie Awards; and The Dream In Athens which received a Logie nomination for Most Popular Sports Program, for the Seven Network. His other television credits include The Project, It's A Knockout , Bush Slam, Comedy Slapdown, Club Buggery, The Channel Nine Show, Planet Norwich, The Monday Dump which received Logie nominations for Most Popular Sports Program two years in a row, The Nation Dumps, Roy & HG's Spring Carnival, The Memphis Trousers and The Cream which also received a Logie Award nomination for Most Popular Sports Program. Greig was recognised in the 2010 Queen's Birthday honours list, receiving an OAM for service to the media as a presenter and entertainer, and as a supporter of a range of charitable organisations, particularly the United Nations Children's Fund in Australia. He was recently a co-host of Triple M's The Life.
